About:

Oregon is well-known for its incredible craft beer, and you’ll find breweries all over the Beaver State. For award-winning beer with a coastal vibe, check out Pelican Brewing Company. Established in 1996, it has three locations in Tillamook, Pacific City, and Cannon Beach. Each offers beach-themed beers and delicious food.

Located right on the sand in picturesque Pacific City, Oregon, Pelican Brewing Company boasts a front-row seat to the dramatic and imposing Haystack Rock (Chief Kiawanda Rock).

Towering 327 feet above sea level, Chief Kiawanda Rock at Pacific City is the tallest of Oregon’s coastal Haystack Rocks; the other two, found off Cannon Beach and near Bandon, stand at 235 feet and 105 feet, respectively.

In addition to breathtaking beachfront views, the fare at this Oregon Coast restaurant is amazing, with fresh seafood, crave-worthy burgers, and an extensive selection of barrel-aged brews.

Review:

Paula and I both ordered the clam chowder, she a bowl and me a cup, I should have ordered a bowl as well.

I had the house made Sea ‘N Red Ale beer sausage flatbread was very flavorful. The house made dough was thin and crispy, the tomato sauce was fresh and slightly sweet, the tomatoes were nicely roasted, the ricotta was creamy and the beer sausage was very tasty.

The fish and chips here is worth seeking out, too! Pelican’s version features fresh Alaskan cod, lightly breaded with Kiwanda Cream Ale, and panko, all served with beer-battered fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce. Paula had the fish and chips and shared some with me. The breading on the cod was light and crisp, the cod was nice and flaky. The beer battered fries that accompanied the cod were hot and crispy, the coleslaw which Paula didn’t want, I happily ate. It was creamy, lightly coated not soggy at all and the cabbage was still crisp.

Of the 8 beers on the tasting flight the Sea ‘N Red Ale was my favorite and I didn’t care for the Bird-Day Vol. III Hopwine Style Ale at all and didn’t finish it. The other six beers in the flight were all drinkable and tasty. Paula also enjoyed her lemon drop martini.

With its extensive beer menu, delicious fare, and million-dollar views, Pelican Brewing Company is peak Oregon Coast dining.

Cheers,

Chris
