The Foothills Parkway is a work in progress. Two segments — east and west — are open to vehicle traffic but not yet connected to each other. Incomplete segments of the planned 71-mile road are open to foot traffic, bikes, and equestrians. The parkway lies outside the northern boundaries of Great Smoky Mountains National Park but is administered by the National Park Service.
The east end of the Foothills Parkway is a six-mile spur over Green Mountain connecting I-40 and U.S. 321. During your scenic drive you’ll enjoy views of English Mountain and the peaks of Great Smoky Mountains National Park rising behind wooded lowlands.
