About:

Creative American comfort food, wood-fired pizzas & fresh pastries & desserts in a rustic setting. The home of the Bakery was built in 1936 by Frank Post’s daughter Alice and her husband Steve. Over the years, the building has continuously been used as a place to restore weary hungry travellers and they keep the tradition alive today.

Review:

The best thing going for the bakery is it’s lovely quaint location along Big Sur that I would love to come back to again, next time I’d like to try their meals. A perfect stop over spot if you’re ever in the area.

Wanted something quick and I’m always looking for great croissants to start the morning off. Big Sur is a very small town and you don’t have lots of options but this place would thrive anywhere.

My wife and I ordered the ham and Gruyere cheese croissant and our daughter ordered the veggie frittata.

To drink my wife ordered a hot chocolate and our daughter and I ordered a café latte.

The croissant was great; it was crispy, flaky and buttery filled with ham & Gruyere cheese. Our daughter said the veggie frittata was delicious. My wife said that the hot chocolate was one of the best hot chocolates she has ever had. However, the latte that I ordered was just okay, nothing special.  I just don’t know if the food of latte was good enough to warrant the wildly high prices.

However, I could sit at a table for a very long time because the views from every window and the deck are what nature lover’s dream of.

Cheers,

Chris
