Review:

Needing an internet and cell service fix (there is no cell service at the campground and the campground WiFi haven’t been working for a few days) Paula and I decided to head over to the Tavern at Rush Creek Lodge for lunch, access the internet and make a few calls. The best cell signal is located by the waterfall, just outside the guest lounge.

The Tavern has a great selection of craft beers on tap, I selected the Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company’s Half Dome California Wheat  to start. Being a fan of tuna melts and making them often in the RV,  I selected the Smoked Trout Melt with fries. However, I was a little apprehensive at first because I an not a fan of rye bread or giardiniera. I was able to substitute the rye bread for sourdough but stuck with the giardiniera even though I was sure how they would incorporate it. When the sandwich arrived I was pleasantly surprised that the giardiniera was diced and used as a type of relish for the smoked trout mixture. The giardiniera added nice texture and flavor to the sandwich and complemented the havarti cheese and smoked trout. The melt was better than I expected and will definitely have to recreate it in the RV.

The California Wheat was light and refreshing and pared well with the Smoked Trout and disappeared rather quickly.

Being a Brown Ale fan I decided to order a pint of Lost Coast Brewery’s Brown Ale, delish.

If you happen to be staying at Yosemite Lakes Campground or are just visiting Yosemite, stop in for a bite and pint at the Tavern at Rush Creek Lodge, you’ll be glad you did.

Cheers,
