‪Review:

‪We were in town to visit Donner Memorial State Park and Emigrant Trail Museum as well as Donner Pass Summit Tunnel Historical Landmark and to pick up some provisions at the local supermarket.

‪We had our dog with us so we looked for a place with a dog friendly patio. I found this place and I was pretty excited as I’m a fan of breweries and it didn’t disappoint.

‪We arrived right about 5:00 pm on a Friday evening and were seated on the patio right away. My wife Paula and I love Caprese salads and Fiftyfifty had a watermelon Caprese salad on the menu with a peach balsamic glaze. So we had to give it a try as a shared starter.  For our main selections, I opted for the Elk Burger and Paula selected the Sawtooth Burger.

The watermelon Caprese was an interesting twist on the classic, the watermelon added a different texture and it was quite refreshing. However, I would have preferred whole basil leaves instead of tiny ribbons and a little more of the leash balsamic glaze. This is definitely a salad I will be making in the RV. The elk burger was cooked to a perfect medium, the bourbon mushrooms, melted Swiss cheese and garlic aioli melded together to create a very flavorful burger and complemented the meat. The fresh spinach and nicely toasted bun completed the burger. The burger was accompanied by thin, crispy, skin on French fries that were very good.

Paula also liked her Sawtooth burger even though she ordered it medium-well and it was closer to medium then well. As you can see from the picture it was a full 1/2 pound burger and she barely got through it. Her burger was accompanied by sweet potato fries which she said we very good even though she couldn’t finish them.

To drink I ordered a sampler and selected the Storm Chaser Lager, the CAPA California Pale Ale, the Space Dog Hazy IPA, and the West Coast Hazy Hazy IPA. The beers were all tasty but none of them were standouts and decided not to fill the growler. I would however, like to make another visit to Fiftyfifty Brewing Company and try some of their other beers and burgers.
